渋谷 敦志 しぶや・あつし

1975年大阪生まれ。立命館大学産業社会学部、London College of Printing卒業。高校生のときに一ノ瀬泰造の本に出会い、報道写真家を志す。大学在学中に1年間、ブラジル・サンパウロの法律事務所で働きながら本格的に写真を撮りはじめる。大学卒業直後、ホームレス問題を取材したルポで国境なき医師団日本主催1999年MSFフォトジャーナリスト賞を受賞。それをきっかけにアフリカ、アジアへの取材をはじめる。著書に『今日という日を摘み取れ』(サウダージ・ブックス)、『まなざしが出会う場所へ——越境する写真家として生きる』(新泉社)、『回帰するブラジル』(瀬戸内人)、『希望のダンス——エイズで親をなくしたウガンダの子どもたち』(学研教育出版)。共著に『ファインダー越しの 3.11』(原書房)、『みんなたいせつ——世界人権宣言の絵本』(岩崎書店)などがある。JPS展金賞、視点賞などを受賞。現在は「境界を生きる人びとを記録し、分断を越える想像力を鍛えること」をテーマに世界各地で撮影を続けている。

 

SHIBUYA ATSUSHI

Born in Osaka in 1975. Shibuya came across a book by war photographer Taizo Ichinose while a high school student, and decided to become a photojournalist. In 1996, he took a year out of university and began taking photos in earnest while working for a law firm in Sao Paulo, Brazil. After graduation, he compiled a report on the plight of the homeless, which was recognized by Médecins Sans Frontières with the MSF Photojournalist Award in 1999. This began his long association with Africa. He graduated from the London College of Printing in 2002, and is currently based in Tokyo. He has won a number of awards including the Japan Professional Photographers Society Gold Award, the Konica Minolta Photo Premio Award, and a special prize to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Shiten Exhibition. Non-fiction work ‘To Where Glances Meet – The Longings of Africa’ is published by Shinsensha Co., Ltd. The latest phot book 'Carpe Diem' is published by Saudade Books.
